What Gets Monitored

Field — Description —

Expiry date — When the domain registration expires —

Days until expiry — Countdown with configurable alert thresholds —

Registrar — Which company manages the domain registration —

Registration date — When the domain was first registered —

Last updated — Most recent change to WHOIS records —

Nameservers — Current DNS nameservers —

DNSSEC — Whether DNSSEC is enabled for added security —

Status codes — Domain status flags (clientTransferProhibited, etc.) —

Alerts

LemWatch sends domain expiry alerts at configurable intervals:

• 90 days before expiry — Early warning for manual-renewal domains
• 30 days before expiry — Urgent reminder
• 7 days before expiry — Critical alert
• On expiry — Domain has expired (may still be recoverable)

WHOIS Change Detection

LemWatch compares WHOIS records between checks and alerts you if:

• Nameservers change unexpectedly
• Registrar changes (potential unauthorized transfer)
• DNSSEC status changes
• Status codes change

Data Source

LemWatch uses RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern replacement for WHOIS. RDAP provides structured, machine-readable data and is the standard used by ICANN-accredited registrars.
