# Server Geolocation

> See where your website is physically hosted and how location affects performance.

## Server Geolocation

### What It Shows

LemWatch identifies the physical location of your web server and displays it on a map. This helps you understand how server location affects performance for users in different regions.

### Information Provided

- Server IP address and hosting provider

- Geographic location — Country, city, coordinates

- Data centre — When identifiable

- CDN detection — Whether a CDN is in front of your origin server

### Why Server Location Matters

- Users far from your server experience higher latency

- Google considers page speed (affected by server distance) as a ranking factor

- Privacy regulations (GDPR) may require data to be hosted in specific regions

### Where to Find It

Navigate to your site's **Overview** tab. The server location appears in the site information card alongside hosting provider details.

### CDN Recommendations

If your server is far from your target audience:

- Use a CDN (Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront, Fastly)

- Consider edge hosting (Vercel, Netlify)

- Choose a hosting region closer to your users
