# How Health Scores Work

> Deep dive into how LemWatch calculates and attributes health scores.

## How Health Scores Work

### Score Calculation

 Your health score (0–100) is a weighted average across four categories:

 Category — Weight — What's measured —

 Uptime — 40% — Response rate, consecutive uptime, response time —

 Performance — 30% — LCP, CLS, INP, page load metrics —

 Security — 15% — Headers, SSL, mixed content, malware —

 SEO — 15% — Meta tags, indexation, broken links, freshness —

### Score Attribution

 When your score changes, LemWatch explains **why**:

- Score increased? We show which fixed issue caused the improvement

- Score decreased? We highlight the new issue causing the drop

- "FIX FIRST" badges appear on critical issues that have the highest impact on your score

### Confidence Levels

 New sites start with a "Low Confidence" score until enough data is collected. After several check cycles, the confidence level increases to "Medium" and then "High".

### Score Trends

 The dashboard shows score trends over 7, 30, and 90 days. Look for:

- Sudden drops — Usually caused by a deployment or configuration change

- Gradual decline — Often indicates accumulating technical debt

- Volatility — May suggest intermittent server issues
