# Default vs Per-Site Channels

> How LemWatch picks which channel and recipient to use for each alert.

## Default vs Per-Site Channels

 Every alert resolves its destination using this precedence:

 A channel is "used" when:

- The toggle is enabled , AND

- The recipient (email / webhook URL / chat ID) is filled in and passes validation.

### Examples

- You enable Slack globally with #alerts . Site shop.example.com has its own Slack override pointing at #shop-oncall → all alerts for that site go to #shop-oncall ; every other site uses #alerts .

- You leave the per-site notification email blank → alerts go to your account email.

- You set a per-site Telegram chat ID but leave the bot token blank → LemWatch falls back to the default Telegram bot/chat.

### Per-site notification email

 Each site can ship alerts to a different email address (handy for clients). Set it under **Edit Site → Notifications → Notification email**. Leave blank to inherit.

### Testing

 Use the **Send test** button next to each channel to fire a real payload through the same delivery path used for incidents.
